Preschool: Day 2

Yesterday was Saylor's second day of preschool. She will be going Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9-1.

We pulled up in the church parking lot and she immediately said, "school, yay!". My once won't-leave-her-mommy's-side child has suddenly found her wings and loves school.

She carried her bag right into her classroom, gave it to her teacher and proceeded to sit in her seat at the table. She might not have even said bye to her mommy if I hadn't walked over to her to kiss her bye.

She had another great day, so much so, when I got there to pick her up she had her blanket and her paci and was asleep in her teacher's lap. I guess preschool is hard work for a little girl.

She loved it.

Saylor had a great first day of preschool. Daddy and I dropped her off this morning and much to my surprise, NO tears. Could not believe it. She did great, it was momma who was melting down. I called the school about an hour after I left and they said she was doing fantastic and no tears at all!
I peeked in the classroom at pick up and she was playing and having a good time. So proud of my girl.

Mommy sure missed her today, but I am thankful for sweet teachers and new friends!

Pictures for now, while she's at school and mommy is missing her! Be back later with a full report :)

Words.

My little girl is growing up and is full steam talking. It is just crazy. Everyday she wakes up and has a new word (or words) she is saying. I feel like sentences are on their way any minute.

A few Saylor words:
Bathing suit
Bunny
Elmo
Thanks
Please
Milk
Snack
Spoon
Get out
Mommy
Daddy
Sissy
ShuShu
Bake (for Gbake)
Baby
Swing
Rock
Ride
Shoes
Feet
Toes
Nose
Eyes
Play
Blankie
Paci
Book
Kitty
Get dressed
No
Yes
Move
Run
Jump
Mouse (for Mickey Mouse)

There are lots more, I just wanted to record a few for my memory :). Love this little chatter box!

Mother Hen

My girl has turned into quite the mother hen. With the addition of a little brother, her love for babies has grown exponentially. The way she loves him (and her baby dolls) just melts this momma's heart.

The other day I had scooped her up to take her out to the car. I had Baker in his carseat and was coming back in the house to get him. Saylor would not leave the house! She kept running back to him saying "baby, baby!". She obviously thought I was leaving him and wouldn't go get in the car without him. Bless.

18 month stats

Saylor's 18 month stats
weight: 23.25 lbs (58th%)
height: 31.75 in (47th%)
head: 18.25 in (52.68%)

Doctor said she looks great and healthy and she was wonderful during her appointment. She had a few shots but handled those like a champ. Just a few tears then she was good to go. It's hard to believe how big she has gotten. My baby girl is growing up so fast :(

18 months!

Happy 18 months, sweet Saylor!
Where in the world has the time gone? You have grown into a precious toddler in what seems to be overnight. You are growing, changing and learning so much every single day. I am so thankful to be able to be at home with you to teach you and watch you explore and learn all this world has to offer.

The way your eyes light up when you smile makes my day. I love when you smile behind your paci. I love that your laughter fills our home and makes me grin from ear to ear. Your personality is really starting to come through and you are hilarious! You are quite the cautious little thing, which I am thankful for, and you really do listen so well.

We go for your 18 month appointment next week, but I think you weigh about 23 lbs. You wear size 18 month clothes and size 4 diapers. You wear a size 5 shoe (and you LOVE shoes, by the way. You are so your mother's daughter!).
You absolutely love to play outside and that is where you are the happiest! You also love to play with baby dolls and are quite the mother hen. You love to carry a purse around the house and talk on the phone. You love to wear bows in your hair. You love to play with your sister and you love snuggling on your brother.

You are so happy and sweet and can also be a fireball. You definitely have a feisty side and we refer to you around here as "pistol annie!" You say lots of words and jabber all day long. It seems as though you pick up a new word each day!
You are a momma's girl, for sure. Daddy keeps thinking you're going to be a daddy's girl... but so far, you stick tight with your mommy :)!

You are a pure delight, little angel, and I am so very proud to be your mommy. You are a ray of sunshine and make me smile every single day!
Love you forever, Say.

You are smart. You are beautiful. You are loved.

Saylor's 1st dentist appt

A few weeks ago, Saylor had her very first dentist appointment, at the ripe old age of 17 months. Apparently, from what the dentist told me, they like to see little ones as soon as they turn a year old. Crazy :)!
Sitting in mommy's lap at the dentist
We strolled into the dentist office and I was fully prepared for a melt down from my little princess. She doesn't love going to the doctor's office (who can blame her, right?!), and I felt certain she would feel the same way about the dentist.

Much to my surprise, she did great! She played while we waited, continued to play while the nurse chatted with me and was a rockstar when the dentist came in. No tears, no screaming and opened her mouth for the dentist like an old pro. Being that she is so little, they have her sit in my lap, straddling me, and then she layed back into the dentist's lap. Could not believe how great she did!

She was thrilled with the new toothbrush they gave her and carried it around more much of the day. Way to go, baby girl!

The almost big-sissy.

As the day gets closer to meeting little brother, I have been soaking in every moment with the soon-to-be big sister. She is getting so big and I know the moment we bring home Baker, she won't seem like a baby anymore. I just want to enjoy every second with her that I can.
She will be 16 months on the 10th and is toddling around everywhere. To say that time flies, is truly an understatement. I look back on pictures and videos and just cannot believe how fast this last year and 3 months have gone. She has quite the personality and is just too funny. She loves to play and insists on taking her blanket and sippy cup everywhere. She has also acquired a love for bows and carrying a purse. She loads up her stroller with whatever toys she needs, grabs her blanket, swings a purse on her arm and off she goes. She loves to play in her princess tent and load up her Dora car with toys.

She loves baby dolls and rocking and snuggling them. She loves to dance and it is absolutely hilarious. She could play outside for hours. She loves to read books and each night before bed she picks out the 3 stories she wants (9 times out of 10, they are the same ones we read every night).
She is quite the snuggle bear and I just eat it up.  She loves to be held and is quite a momma's girl. She is quite the chatter box, although, most of it we can't quite understand. She loves to talk on the phone and walks around often pretending she is having a serious conversation with someone on the other line. She says "daddy" constantly. She also says "mama," "sissy," "uh oh," "kitty," "bye bye," "hiiiii," and a few other things.
She is still a really great eater, although she is a bit more picky when it comes to the texture of some food. At dinner time, we pull her highchair up to the table with us, and she clasps her hands together when it's time for our prayer. Melts my heart.
Some other favorite things:
- dancing to any kind of music (especially her sock monkey)
- her blanket (we go no where without that and her paci)
- shoes
- bows
- bath time and splashing
- singing (or trying to!)
- giving kisses and snuggling
- swinging
- stroller rides
- our kitty and seeing other animals
 - playing in the kitchen cabinets

What a joyous 15 months with her it has been. I can't wait to see her and Baker play together and grow up being buddies (once we get through the shock of a new sibling, ha!).

Saylor, you are my precious, darling, first born. I love you to pieces. You taught me how to be a mama and love so much it makes my heart feel like it's going to burst. I love you, tink tink.

Things I don't want to forget...

Saylor and I have been playing all morning, and have been having so much fun! I have been thinking of how much she is learning with each passing day. She is 14 months and is changing so much.

A few of her (current) favorite things:
  • throwing a ball and chasing after it all through the house
  • rocking and snuggling with her baby dolls
  • giving her baby dolls a bottle
  • coloring (this is her first masterpiece!)
  • filling up and dumping out cups
  • goldfish!
  • playing outside... whether swinging, strolling or just being, Say loves to be outside.
  • brushing my hair or daddy's hair
  • clapping for herself and saying "yay" when she does something she's proud of
  • reading books (she has 3 favorites we read each night and 2 other favorites we read 20+ times during the day)
This is such a sweet, precious time in Saylor's life, and I don't want to forget a thing :)!

Tuesday randoms...

1 - We have been working on the finishing touches in Baker's nursery, where we currently have atleast 5 different shades of paint on the wall. And have we made a decision on the color? Not yet. But I think we are getting close. Finding the "lightest-shade-of-blue-in-the-world-that-almost-looks-white," not as easy as I thought. It is still a work in progress!

2 - The weather has been so nasty and rainy this week and hasn't helped with the extremely long days. Saylor and I do much better (and are much happier) when we can get outside, even if only for a little while. We've resorted to pulling every riding toy we own into the house, as well as pulling out anything I can think of to keep her entertained.

3 - I started Beth Moore's new Bible study last week on the book of James, and I am loving it! The book of James has only 5 books, but man, it is packed full of goodness. I am soaking it all in and really enjoying it.

4 - This past Friday night, we took Chloe and her buddy from school to the circus for her birthday. Talk about 2 little girls having a great time! They enjoyed pizza at Mellow Mushroom, cotton candy, snow cones and lots of laughter.

5 - I am quite certain Baby Baker is a ninja baby. Sean and I laugh often as I get kicked and punched from the little fella. I went to the doctor last week for a checkup and am currently measuring 2 weeks ahead. Everything is looking great and seems to be right on track! I can't wait to meet him!

Happy Tuesday, sweet friends. Hope your week is filled with laughter and extra hugs. xoxo
