napping?

When supposed to be napping, it appears Saylor is looking for an exit...

...in all directions.

fleeting moments.

Last night, a little before 4am, I heard soft whimpers coming from Saylor's monitor. It startled me, as she doesn't ever wake up at night. I watched her on the monitor for a few minutes, thinking she'd fall back alseep, but the whimpers continued. I walked upstairs to her room, scooped her and her blanket out of bed, then sat with her in her rocking chair.

Immediately the whimpers stopped. She sprawled her little body on mine and snuggled right into me. She held her blanket in one hand and held onto my arm with the other. I listened to her sucking on her paci. Then slowly, I watched as her chest rose and fell, her breaths getting slower as she quickly fell back asleep.

I sat in that chair, with only the glow of a night light, and tears enveloped me. I kept hearing a whisper in my heart, "you're gonna miss this....". I rocked and prayed as I soaked in every second. I don't even know how long I held her, but she was fast asleep when I finally got up from the chair and laid her back in her crib.

These moments are fleeting, and I am thankful to sit and rock my sweet baby in the wee hours of the night, and thankful for a God who whispered to me slowly, "stay, soak this moment in...".

9 months!

Happy 9 months, sweet Saylor!
(you turned 9 months on the 10th, but we have been out of town and super busy!)
I can't believe we are getting so close to your 1st birthday. You are growing, learning and changing every single day and I love spending every minute with you.
Your sweet smile and darling laugh light up my days.

You went to the doctor yesterday for your 9 month appointment. You weigh 19 lbs! You are getting so big. Here you are at your appointment...
I just stopped breastfeeding you and we switched to formula about 3 weeks ago and you had no problem at all with the change. You are eating lots of different foods and are always willing to try anything I give you. Some new things you are liking this month:
grapes, olives, cucumber, pasta, avocado, chicken, cheese, rice
Your eating schedule is as follows:
8 oz bottle in the morning
6 oz bottle with rice cereal after morning nap
yogurt, fruit or vegi for lunch
6 oz bottle after afternoon nap
vegi and protein for dinner
6 - 8 oz bottle before bed
You are wearing mostly 9m clothes and 6 - 12m clothes. You are still in size 2 diapers.

You love to play! You love your toys and love to put anything in your mouth. You love to empty buckets or baskets and refill them. You love blocks and stacking things together.

You are such a wonderful sleeper, and as always, we are so very thankful. You take a morning nap and an afternoon nap, each usually 2 hours. You go to bed between 7:30 and 8 and usually get up around 7. You are super attached to your blanket and love to snuggle with it when you sleep.

You are not crawling yet, although for the past month you have been trying to. You are quite the scooter and love to move yourself around in circles. When you get in the crawling position, you go 2 or 3 paces then freeze not knowing what to do next. Too funny! I am soaking up these last few weeks of immobility :)
You love bath time and love to play with toys while in the bath. You splash and have a big time!

You are quite the talker! You are saying "mama," "dada," "uh oh" and your new favorite is to make the "O" face and say "ooooooo."
(here is your "O" face)
We laugh all the time at your new trick. You are also quite the ham and have figured out how to get people's attention. You talk and squeal at them and people laugh. Precious.
Time is going so fast and I can't believe you are getting so big. I love you more every single day.
I love that you lay your head on my shoulder when you are sleepy. I love that you squeal at me across the room to get my attention, then laugh when I smile at you. I love that we play peek-a-boo together. I love that when you lay down with me, you put your feet across my tummy. I love your big blue eyes and that sweet dimple on your cheek.
You are smart. You are beautiful. You are loved.

Love you forever, Say. Happy 9 months!
