6 weeks!

Saylor, you are 6 weeks old today, and I just can't believe how quickly you are changing. You are just so precious, I can hardly stand it.
Just this morning, I heard you stirring around in your bassinet and I came back into my room to say good morning, and you just smiled and squealed back at me. No better way to start the morning than seeing that little smile of yours! You make mommy so happy! You are making more and more sounds and I love listening to you trying to "talk."
You are growing so fast! You are the sweetest little girl during the day... usually getting a good nap in the morning and one in the afternoon. You are a great shopper and have made Christmas shopping such a breeze for me. At night, you hang with me and daddy till 10 or 11, then I put you down to sleep. You love to sleep swaddled up in your bassinet, and sleep until 5 or 6 in the morning. You get up to eat for 5 - 10 minutes then fall right back to sleep until 8 or 9.
You've been getting used to tummy time lately. You get frustrated when you can't pick up your head all the way, but you are starting to enjoy it more. You love looking around on your mat and checking out the little toys.
Your new favorite thing is to be carried in my sling. 2-3 hours you spend napping while wrapped up against me. You love bath time and it seems to soothe you. You are such a good baby and we are so proud to be your parents.
Your first Christmas is in just a few days and we can't wait! Love you forever, Saylor.

A Baby Changes Everything...

I love this song... it is one of my very favorite Christmas songs. I love it for so many reasons. For the sacrifice our sweet Jesus made for us. The joy of celebrating the true meaning of Christmas. The way my thoughts wander when thinking of the virgin Mary, and how she must have felt. A teenage girl, unwed. What a strong, courageous woman.

And this year, this song found an even deeper place in my heart, with the birth of my own sweet little girl. A baby changes everything. My heart. My soul. My spirit. A baby changes everything. The smiles are larger. The laughter deeper. The joy brighter. Glory to the newborn King. A baby changes everything! Hallelujah!

A Baby Changes Everything
Teenage girl, much too young
Unprepared for what's to come
A baby changes everything

Not a ring on her hand
All her dreams and all her plans
A baby changes everything
A baby changes everything

The man she loves she's never touched
How will she keep his trust?
A baby changes everything
A baby changes everything

And she cries!
Ooh, she cries
Ooh, oh

She has to leave, go far away
Heaven knows she can't stay
A baby changes everything

She can feel it's coming soon
There's no place, there's no room
A baby changes everything
A baby changes everything

And she cries!
And she cries!
Oh, she cries

Shepherds all gather 'round
Up above the star shines down
A baby changes everything

Choir of angels sing
Glory to the newborn King
A baby changes everything
A baby changes everything
Everything, everything, everything

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

My whole life has turned around
I was lost but now I'm found
A baby changes everything, yeah
A baby changes everything

Saylor's Sip and See

A few weeks ago we headed to Greensboro for a few days to surprise my mom for her birthday. Being the party planner that she is, my mom quickly organized an impromptu "Sip and See" for the Greensboro folk to see Saylor and sip a few drinks. It was a really fun time and we are so thankful to have such a wonderful group of family and friends surrounding us. Saylor girl, I am so glad you got to meet so many of mine (and your Shu Shu's) sweet friends!

Moira... the baby whisperer, as she calls herself :)

Judging by this face, I think Saylor enjoyed being held and loved on by all our friends!

Thank you, sweet friends, for coming by Shu Shu's to see our precious, new angel. I can't wait for her to grow up knowing what special people each of you are.
